Gallstones refer to the accumulation of cholesterol and some other pigments like bilirubin in the gallbladder forming a stone. Based on the composition, gallstone can be of either type, cholesterol gallstone or pigment stone. It is a common condition affecting almost 11% of the total population, however, women are more prone to the condition as compared to men.

Usually, gallstones remain undiagnosed as it may not show any sign or symptom, but some patients may experience severe steady pain (for about 30 min to 6 hours) in the abdomen that may radiate to the back and soreness in the abdomen even after pain relief. Other symptoms like nausea, vomiting, jaundice, chills and fever etc may be experienced if the gallstone travels into the tract and causes blockage. Several factors, including obesity, age, and pregnancy, being a woman, certain liver diseases and genetic factors are supposed to contribute to the development of a gallstone(s).

The homeopathic approach to treat gallstones:

Homeopathic medicine can help to:

  • Encounter the pain immediately (5 to 20 minutes) and reduce chronic inflammation of the gallbladder caused due to gallstones.
  • Reduce the size of the smaller gallstones.
  • Prevent progression of forming stone and development of new ones.

If the stone size is larger, it often needs surgical interventions as homeopathy can relieve pain but can’t assure its complete cure. The selection of homeopathic medicine relies on symptoms rather than the condition. The duration of the homeopathic treatment may vary from patient to patient, depending upon the composition of the gallstone and its size, but the good thing is the patient remains symptom-free during the treatment period.
