10 Quick ways to charge up for the day

Every day is a new day and each day brings with it, its own challenges, success and failures – all, to only make you a stronger and a wiser person with each experience. But, unless you are prepared to face every single situation with conviction and confidence, life can get very weary, mundane and painful.

So, how do you charge up and get ready to have a super day, every day? It is important you kick start your day in the right way so that you’re motivated enough to face life head-on positively.

1. Set up a bedtime schedule

Sleeping at a particular time and getting a minimum of 6 hrs of sound sleep can make you feel refreshed, energetic as you wake up (early). Waking up early helps you find time to plan and start a day well. But to make this happen, discipline and commitment to your self is important. Some things like finishing off a few chores the previous night - planning for the next day, be it clothes to wear, food or office meetings - can go a long way in keeping you focussed. Setting up a pre-bed routine of your own can help you organize yourself for the the next day.

2. Beat the slumber. Rise early.

Rise early and shine. Rising early, sets the tone for the day. According to research, early risers are relatively more successful, more proactive, great planners and anticipate problems effortlessly. Such people are off the bed super-early. Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief, Vogue gets up as early as 5:45 a.m, Ursula Burns, Xerox, CEO by 5.30 a.m, Tim Cook, Apple CEO is up by 3:45 a.m. These people are some of the most successful people whose early-bird traits is reflective in their careers. Waking up early has many benefits apart from giving you a lot of time to plan, meditate, exercise and organise yourself. So, the more ‘me’ time you have every morning, the more geared up you are to tackle the day’s hassles.

3. Set apart 15 minutes for meditation

A great way to improve your focus is to meditate early in the morning, which helps you start the day on the right note, keeps you calm, motivated, positive and spiritually charged. This clears your mind and removes distractions. It also sets you up for success, gives you a psychological boost and keeps you motivated for the day. It gives you the inner strength to face any situation with composure and confidence. Meditation helps you think well, before you act on anything, therefore making lesser mistakes and taking wiser decisions. Make up your mind to do a good deed every day, help someone in need, think good for others, complain less, do more. Training your mind to think positively helps you achieve your targets quickly, and stay happy amidst all the challenges of life.

4. Sweat out those extra calories

Workout/exercise guarantees high energy levels all through the day. You don’t have to follow a strict regime. Just make sure you keep the blood flowing and get oxygen pumped well into the brain. A quick early morning jog is a good enough exercise. A few push-ups or jumping jacks in the morning will do the trick of making you feel revitalized all through the day. You could keep that early morning lethargy at bay by going to bed in your gym clothes and gym bags ready by the side of the door.

5. Eat breakfast like a king

What you eat, is what you reflect through your work and dealing with people. A research conducted by Health Enhancement Research Organization proves that those who eat healthy have 25% more chances of high job performance and 20% chances of being more productive at work. Also, eating no breakfast or a poor meal will leave you hungry the first part of the day with hardly any concentration and productivity. A healthy breakfast could include the following in your diet – cereal, bananas, eggs, yogurt/ milk, blueberries and other fruits and salads.

6. Make the best use of commuting time

Commuting is the best time to quickly glance through important daily news, documents and emails. To make up for the lack of service in transit, you could download stuff on the run and read through at leisure, even while you’re standing in a local train or a bus. Run through the list of things to do, in your mind, organize your thoughts for the meeting in the first hour or better still listen to some soothing music, listen or a spiritual talk or make some important calls.

7. Let your smartphone be

Sure, smartphone makes life easier than you ever imagined, but it could also make life unbelievably complex. When the lights go off, the smartphones need to be off. Use a typical alarm clock/piece instead of setting alarm in your phone. Avoid checking mails and responding to social networking feeds before you hit the bed as it could be a vice and spoil the next day, making you feel sleepy all through the day.

8. Calm yourself with Music

Music has the power of restoring you back to your usual self, no matter what situation you are going through. Give your ears a soothing treat and watch how it transforms your day. If you have a big today, listening to music can actually calm your nerves and make you feel more relaxed and peaceful, giving no room for tension and worry.

9. Don’t entertain grudges or negative thoughts

If you want to be your best, you need to keep yourself far from negativity and ill feelings. So, clear your head off the trash and be as creative as possible with your day’s tasks. Forgiving is one of the most beautiful traits you can inculcate as this is reportedly also good for the heart. The Journal of Behavioural Medicine confirms that ‘forgiving and letting go” is associated with lower blood pressure and low heart rate. A healthy mind and heart is reflective of your performance at work.

10. Invent a fun inspirational slogan

Finally, come up with innovative positive quotes to brighten up your day. It could be something like “challenges pep me up to strive harder for success. It is a proven fact that positive affirmations are excellent tools to set the pace for your subconscious mind, thus inspiring you to go the productive route.

Little as these techniques may seem to be, they actually go a long way. Where there’s a will, there’s a way. It’s all in the mind, it’s how you train it to work and it will adapt accordingly. So, why not kick start life afresh, inculcating these techniques and see how it transforms your outlook towards life and each day!!
