About CAPI.
Connecticut Association of Physicians of Indian Origin ( CAPI )..
The following an informal discussion by Drs.Sreenivas.V.I, R.Shrotriya, A.Madhani, and P.Sureddi. A letter was sent to indian physicians in CT, inviting them to attend a meeting at Dr.Sureddi's office in Waterbury to brain storm if an organization is necessary to bring together physicians of Indian origin in CT.
On 03/28/1990 the meeting was attended by the founding members and then AAPI New England Regional director and IMANE president. IMANE president encouraged the attendees to join IMANE. New England AAPI regional director favoured a CT entity. At the end of the meeting a unanimous consensus was to organize a statewide independent organization with its own bylaws and affiliate with AAPI. The founding members met in Cheshire at Dr.Sureddi's residence and interim office bearers were elected;president- Dr.V.I.Sreenivas; president elect Dr.Rajesh Shrotriya; secretary- Dr.Narendra Tohan; treasurer- Dr.Prasad Sureddi. Seed money was donated by Dr.Sreenivas and founding members.
Later in 1990, the 1st bylaw committee drafted bylaws which were duely adopted and a nonprofit organization was formed : the Connecticut Association of Physicians of Indian Origin(CAPI). Since then, the following ofiicers served as president of the society:
