You may have heard a lot of people say, ‘I have thyroid problem’. But how many of us really know what it is, because only awareness can help you be cautious about it. The thyroid gland is the gland that is situated in front of the neck and is shaped like a butterfly. The two wings represent the left and right thyroid lobes, connected by bridge called isthmus.
It produces three types of hormones — thyroxin (t4), triiodothyronine (t3), and calcitonin. The t3 and t4 influence metabolic processes in the body and are essential for normal growth, mental development, sexual maturation, absorption of fat, maintaining blood pressure, body temperature and pulse rate. Calcitonin plays a role in calcium homeostasis.
The thyroid gland is under the control of the pituitary gland. When the level of t3 and t4 drops too low, the pituitary gland produces TSH, which stimulates the thyroid gland to produce more hormones.
Thyroid gland gets mainly two types of disorders — Hypo-thyroidism and Hyper-thyroidism. While the former is a condition in which metabolism becomes slow due to lack of t3 and t4 hormones, the latter is a case in which excess thyroid hormones are released.
“The main aim of homeopathic treatment is to find out the cause and slowly activate natural generation of thyroid hormones, through imported medications. The advantages of this treatment are natural balancing of hormones, decreasing the complications with no side effects. And with 30 years of expertise, Star Homoepathy has emerged as a leader in thyroid care,” says Dr. Murali Ankireddy, (MD Homeo).
