Ask A Doctor - Birth Control/ cranberry pill. - DesiMD Healthcare Services

So I have been on hormonal birth control for a couple of months. is it ok to take a natural cranberry pill supplement? that contains Proanthocyanidins? Its made by Spring Valley if that helps. I am just concerned it may knock out my birth control and would rather not get pregnant before I'm ready. thank you soo much. - Asked by M L on 16-Oct-2014 04:13:53

If you are taking birth control pills, there is nothing that affects their activiy (unless you vomit after taking it). It is almost impossible to get pregnant if one is on birth control. Therefore, you can safely take other diet pills along with it.

Certain medications like antibiotics, seizure medications, antifungals , antidepressants and antianxiety medications interfere with liver metabolism decrease the effectiveness of birth control pills. Over the counters with Soy preprations and St John's wort affect them but not cranberry pills.
