cold and fever could be symptoms of infection. But it would be hard to identify the source/area of infection with out having more details about other associated symptoms. 1. Runny nose, sinus congestion, headaches and fluid dripping behind your throat when you lay down are symptoms of rhinitis or sinusitis. If there is no tenderness on your sinuses when the doctor presses on them, nasal drainage is not yellow or green and the duration of symptoms is less than a week - then you don't need any antibiotics. Rest, Claritin (to decrease the secretions), keeping yourself hydrated well with at least 3 liters of fluid per day and taking Tylenol over the counter 4 times a day as needed could relieve the symptoms as these symptoms could be viral flu like illness. But if you have high fevers, chills, yellow/green secretions, tenderness on sinuses and symptoms lasting more than a week - then you need to see your primary care doctor.
