I have an infection in under one of my back right teeth causing moderate swelling. I am taking methylprednisolone 4mg tabs from a previous pulmonary condition (bronchitis) and want to know the dosage for dental use while I find a dentist. Thankyou.     You can take 4mg tablets twice daily, kindly meet a dentist

    It is not advisable to reduce or increase the dose of your medication without consulting your physician.

    Please continue with the same dose until your physician makes any changes. 

    But steroids do increase the risks of spread of infection or formation of dental abscess.

    Please seek immediate dental care or if that's taking a while, please seek medical attention urgently;

    to get your swelling under control, especially if you have pain or difficulty in breathing.

    I recommend to stay away from meth prednisone. Please meet nearest dentist as soon as possible. If you need pain medicine, please use Acetaminophen/ Ibuprofen / Naproxen.  You will need antibiotic . In case the swelling is getting worse, please visit emergency Room
