Usually mirena IUDs do not have any effect on Home pregnancy kits showing negative results as these tests have antibodies specific for a hormone called Beta HCG or one of its subunits in the urine. False negativity is more common due to doing the test too early after missing a period. If you suspect pregnancy, best thing is to repeat the test in at least a week later and if you do it 2 wks later it would increase the sensitivity of the test as by that time urine concentrations of beta HCG should be much higher.
