Ask A Doctor - Is it a stomach bug? - DesiMD Healthcare Services

About a month ago I noticed some white specks, almost seed-like in my stool. I didn't think much of it, maybe it was something I ate. But this has been going on for a month now and there are new symptoms. I noticed some brown/black lines in my stool, I've had these moments where I couldn't use my muscles, they would just lock. I've experienced headaches, a stabbing pain in my chest where I have to stop everything I'm doing and collapse my chest, just so it will stop hurting, I'm also more shaky than usual. My stool sometimes is a thick liquid and has a different and unbearable odor. Sometimes my stool resembles peanut butter, the way it is somewhat solid. I've never had any stomach problems before but my father has Crohn's Disease. Maybe it is somehow related? Maybe it is just a stomach bug? - Asked by M S on 08-May-2014 06:02:00

    Hi,

I think you are worried you may have Crohn's disease because of your father's history. I think you may be having anxiety, but your symptoms do not warrant any suspicion of Crohn. However, if you are worried a simple stool test for occult blood will rule it out.
