Here are top 9 things to help you stay healthy that will enable you to attain your other goals:

1. Stay Physically Active

Walk, jog, cycle, do yoga or any other exercise, but make it a must do, at least an hour, five days a week to strengthen your bones and maintain a lean body weight.

2. Get Enough Rest

A good 7 to 8 hours of sleep every day is a must for optimum functioning of your organs. Meditation helps you rejuvenate and stay alert and sharp.

3. Eat Plant-Based and Fiber Foods

Get at least 3-4 servings of vegetables and fruits every day; Cut down red meat, high cholesterol and fatty foods. Whole grains, brown rice, oatmeal are good sources of fiber; Cut down white rice, white bread, refined flour foods and sugary cereals.

4. Choose Healthy Oils and Fats

Avoid transfat foods and solid fats such as butter, dalda. Eat foods high in omega-3 fatty acids, mono-unsaturated fats (olive oil, canola oil, peanuts, cashews) and poly-unsaturated fats (corn oil, safflower oil, salmon fish, flax oil, sesame seeds, walnuts and soy oil); Snack on nuts.
