Preventing Urinary Tract Infections

urinary tract infection (UTI) is one of the most common infections and more common in women, than men. About 50% of females get it once in their lifetime. It’s an infection involving the kidneys, ureters, bladder, or urethra, the passage through which urine passes before elimination from the body.

UTI occurs when one or more parts of the urinary system are infected with a pathogen like bacteria. UTIs

are generally not serious unless the infection spreads to the kidney.

Symptoms of UTIs: UTIs are not always visible. Some individuals may experience low abdomen pain, burning sensation while urinating, frequent urination and produce cloudy or bad smelling urine. But when the infections spreads to kidneys it is more serious with fever, chills, nausea and other severe symptoms.

UTI infection is dangerous when spread to the kidney and can cause kidney damage. At times the organisms can enter the blood stream and affect other organs causing sepsis and death.
