I am a 27 year old male, I used to smoke 10-12 cigarettes a day for almost 5 years. Recently 4 months back I decided to quit and switched to electronic cigarettes due to its non-tobacco feature. Recently I was coughing so I even quit the electronic cigarette, now I have noticed my appetite has increased, and everything is else is fine. But sometimes I feel tightness in my chest and cough during the night also I feel difficulty in breathing, it improves once the day passes by. - Asked by s x on 08-Aug-2016 12:51:04

    Hello,

Congratulations on quiiting smoking. As you are facing breathing difficulties, Please get a chest X-ray done just to rule out any changes.

    Regards

I was reading online in the electronic cigarette forums that once a smoker quits and his body is deprived of nicotine the lungs start healing itself and take a while between 1-9 months for the lungs to clear itself of all the foreign particles. I just wanted to confirm if its normal for a smoker to face this after a while? Or is it something I need to worry about? My cough is normal during my smoking period I used to have yellowish cough but now when I remove cough its plain white in colour.
